A perspective on ecommerce in VN through the example of Lazada Marketplace

When Alibaba agreed to buy a controlling interest in Lazada this year, including the Vietnam operations, business consumers and the government were cautiously optimistic. Critics of the deal noted that the sale showed that Vietnam’ and Southeast Asia’s eCommerce industry is weak and that online shopping is not popular with consumers.

Alexandre Dardy has a Master Degree from Paris University and a Master Degree in Business from INSEAD. He began his career at McKinsey in Paris as a member of the European High Tech Practice. After leaving McKinsey & Company, he worked for Lazada Vietnam as a Commercial Manager in charge of marketplace development.

In August 2014, he became CEO of Lazada Vietnam, in charge of all of Lazada Vietnam‘s activities. He has provided many new strategies that provide better service solutions and have helped made Lazada the #1 e-commerce website in Vietnam.
