Shawn Cheng founded hoopCHINA.com at 2004 with his partners Bing Yang and Remus Wang. hoopCHINA quickly became the leading sports vertical and fan community in China. The website started with a BBS and added many interactive features. Its traffic volume trails only SINA sports' according to iResearch to make hoopCHINA the second largest online sports media in China.

hoopCHINA's content is 90% user generated in the form of articles, pictures and videos. The quality of some reaches professional level and were used by sports TV program and print media. Over 100 thousand posts are generated every day at hoopCHINA's fan forum. The highly active interaction among sports fans are the major attraction for hoopCHINA's advertisers including Nike and Adidas.

hoopCHINA is focused on basketball and spun off its soccer channel (now http://www.goalhi.com/) and F1 channel (now http://www.hellof1.com/) early this year. The user network and community database for these verticals are tightly connected so that users could interact with others entering the grand sports SNS community from different verticals.

With advertising as the main income source, hoopCHINA is actively exploring the opportunity to expand into webgame and e-commerce business.
