Vietnam’s Novaland Group and the Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation, which is based in the U.S. held an online meeting last week to update the implementation of the Michael Dukakis Institute - Vietnam and to begin the development and implement of Artificial Intelligence programs.

Michael Dukakis is a retired American politician and lawyer who served as the 65th governor of Massachusetts, from 1975 to 1979 and again from 1983 to 1991. He is the longest-serving governor in Massachusetts’ history. He was the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 1988 election. In 2014, the Historic South Station in Boston was named the Michael Dukakis Transportation Center. The Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation was founded in 2015 and is led by Michael Dukakis, with the participation of leading professors from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The agreement between Novaland and the Dukakis Institute calls for the development of the Michael Dukakis Institute-Vietnam in NovaWorld Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan Province), which will develop various leadership and creative training programs in the era of artificial intelligence.

The leadership programs will include creative, leadership and technical seminars that will be taught online by professors, scholars and leaders from the U.S. and other member countries of Artificial Intelligence World Society Innovation Network (AIWS.net).

The new Dukakis Institute Vietnam will also develop and support the implementation of a series of AI World Society programs at NovaWorld Phan Thiet. Potential programs that may be taught in the future include: AI summer camps for students of all ages and grade levels, an annual AI conference and awards ceremony and a variety of other events and programs that are focused on AI.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a crucial technology in Vietnam’s future growth and the Dukakis Institute Vietnam will allow the country stay abreast of the latest AI developments, products, services and trends from both a regional and global perspective and will allow the country to embrace digital transformation across all industries and sectors.

Governor Dukakis as well as leaders from his Institute have said they will support Novaland to develop NovaWorld Phan Thiet into a bright spot for technological and cultural innovation in the AI era, a gathering place for everyone involved in AI and high-technology to connect into a worldwide AI community.

The Dukakis Institute’s “Center for AI Policy and Digital Policy” will be heavily involved in the Dukakis Institute Vietnam’s programs, and emphasizes "The Center for AI and Digital Policy aims to promote a better society, more fair, more just – a world where technology promotes broad social inclusion based on fundamental rights, democratic institutions, and the rule of law."

Bui Thanh Nhon, Chairman of the Novaland Group, said: "This cooperation will further increase the value of NovaWorld Phan Thiet, a new destination for the world, and will make Phan Thiet an attractive and favorite destination for tourism, resorts, conferences and seminars.”
