Our Background & History
Forefront Technologies was founded by Australian Mark Navin in 1994 and was originally established as a technology company that helped SME’s and MNC’s in Japan to better grasp how technology can and would change the operations of their businesses.
Our original services (and many of the services that we still provide today) included IT Consulting with a view to Strategic IT planning to define a company’s IT infrastructure needs including the design of its network, the client / server applications that were needed to run the network, the types of hardware and software needed, staff training and IT troubleshooting.
Clients turned to Forefront Technologies in our early years to help them with the areas described above, but as Media and IT have changed, Forefront Technologies has also changed.

Mark Navin has spent 40 years working in technology, since his studies of computer science. A resident of Japan for nearly 20 years, he founded Forefront Technologies in 1994, and today it is one of the oldest foreign-owned independent technology companies in Tokyo.
From his earliest days, Mark and Forefront Technologies have embraced new technology to better assist clients, successfully navigating the ever-evolving and increasingly integrated fields of technology, processes and business. Mark’s involvement in ITV is recognition that current technology changes are now impacting the way that companies brand, market and promote themselves, as part of a constant evolution to stay competitive and move forward.
Anticipating the next evolution will further integrate branding, communication and media into workplace, Mark has positioned Forefront Technologies accordingly. The specialist skills of Media Technologists are the way of the future, to help companies achieve a seamless integration of content, media and technology to give these companies a pre-eminent presence on the Internet.
Mark recently expanded his role of Technology Mentor into Executive and Business Coaching, applying his extensive experience as a founder/owner of a small business and long-time resident of Japan to coaching individuals and management teams on transitions in careers, businesses, processes, cultures and technologies.

As the Business Development Manager in Japan for ITV-Asia, Michael is the public face of a company that has thrived through the continuous evolution of the internet industry. To this active and demanding role, he brings wide-ranging experience spanning 20 years, and diverse industries, countries and cultures.
A people-focused sales person at heart, Michael’s very first job was in the sales of photo copier supplies, and he soon discovered his entrepreneurial spirit, going on to establish several companies in office and computer printer supplies. Before moving to Asia Michael dabbled in investment real estate and worked as a freelance photojournalist in his home town of Los Angeles and abroad.
Stints as an executive search consultant and research analyst for a project management consulting firm here in Tokyo subsequently led back to advertising and media sales. Embracing the dynamic challenges of a new media network, he is applying his strategic management and entrepreneurial skills to connecting leading business personalities and their companies in Tokyo with Japan’s premier English-language business news network on the internet.
Michael’s vision is to take ITV Japan to the next level as the dynamic leading voice for the international business community in Japan.
