Are computer games better than classroom instruction for training future traders? Michael Tanenbaum thinks so, which is why he founded Trader Analytics, a company making games that train and test future securities traders. Erik Gain, President of Shirokane Partners, interviews Mike to find out how his company’s software can change the entire talent recruitment and training process for investment banks and hedge funds; the superiority of games over tests for assessing skills and personalities; how information technology can transform and improve upon the educational process; why the company set up in China and how you can find a job as a trader.
Michael Tanenbaum is co-founder and CEO of Trader Analytics Corp., a Hong Kong and Shanghai-based company that makes online games to teach aspiring traders the skills they need to be successful on Wall Street. Top performers in the games have the opportunity to be recruited for jobs and internships at banks and hedge funds. Before starting Trader Analytics Corp., Mike was an investment banker with J. P. Morgan in Hong Kong in the Complex Transactions Group. Mike came to J. P. Morgan from the World Bank, where he was a consultant in the Investment Climate Advisory services practice. He holds an MA in China Studies and international finance from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC.
