
Helen Wang, author of The Chinese Dream: The Rise of the World’s Largest Middle Class and What it Means to You, discusses her book, her life and her work with iTV-Asia editor Nicholas MacDonald. Helen discusses her book and the confusion that comes when trying to define “The Chinese Dream”, China’s role in the world, and episodes from her own life, including her journey into microentrepreneurism.
Helen Wang is a Forbes columnist, business consultant and noted expert on China’s middle class. Originally from China, Helen has lived in the US for over twenty years, where she works for Menlo Park, California based think-tank the Institute for the Future and has consulted for leading companies, including Apple, Bank of America and Oracle. In 2004 she founded a social venture, e-Mobilizer, to help woman micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries using mobile phone to access online markets, which was nominated twice for the San Jose Tech Museum Award.
