Craig Kirkwood
President, Dale Carnegie Japan

Craig Kirkwood is the President of Dale Carnegie Japan since September 2007. He commenced his career in Japan on a three year Management Trainee Program with Kitamura Machinery Company (Toyama) before moving on to become the Tokyo Branch Manager for Bunge (Aust.) Pty. Ltd, transferring back to Australia after a total of six years in Japan in 1989. Craig then took on the role of Regional North Asia Manager for Cadbury Schweppes looking after Japan and Hong Kong for over five years.

He has since had major roles in both public and private organisations such as: General Manager of Marketing Tasmania Development and Resources. Executive Director of Business East, Regional Manager Asia Pacific, and Marketing Training Kraft Foods International. He has personally delivered over 150 programs in Marketing, Sales and Corporate Management to Kraft staff throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Craig is a certified practitioner and Master Trainer in Strategy and Logical thinking processes (STEPS). Craig is also a certified Dale Carnegie Course trainer with experience in High Impact Presentations and both the 12 week course and 3 day business immersion course.

Craig has travelled extensively throughout the Asia Pacific region over the past 25 years in his various roles and is fluent in Japanese, he has a keen understanding of the cultural nuances within the region and applies his well founded knowledge accordingly to ensure learning experiences have a major impact on the individual and organisation.

In our interview today, Craig speaks about the concept of Dale Carnegie’s book – “How to win friends and influence people”, and the principle of the Dale Carnegie course. He enlighten us about how did his business get to Japan, what is the course focus on, and how does people’s behavior change by taking the course.
