Carsten Ullrich has served as a speaker and reviewer for a number of conferences. Last year, he presented his work at the International World Wide Web conference in Beijing, and he spoke at Spark 09 with an interesting topic of “Video killed the radiostar, but will Web 3.0 kill the teacher? Carsten Ullrich and Morry Morgan join us today having an in-depth discussion about the learning environment in China and how will Web 3.0 helps China innovate and bring passion to people. Carsten compares the Chinese students with those in Germany and in China in relation to innovation, He reveals his secrets of keeping his students awake in the classroom, and the potential to make learning much more interesting. Dr. Carsten Ullrich is a researcher at the e-learning lab of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests include technology-supported learning, especially by AI techniques, Web 2.0, Semantic Web and mobile learning. Currently, at Shanghai Jiao Tong University he is focusing on fostering active learning by combining Web 2.0 and Artificial Intelligence. Carsten is also Manager for AI and Semantic Web Technologies at Totuba, an innovative Shanghai-based start-up for educational services.
