David Lester
Managing Director, Leo Burnett Vietnam

In this episode of Insight Vietnam, and with a veteran in the advertising industry as our guest speaker, we take you on a journey and discuss the advertising and media landscape of Vietnam. We discuss advertising, branding, public relations, the internet and email marketing and we’ll also talk about what works and what does not work as well as challenges that advertisers face in this market.

David Lester is an Australian and has spent 35 years with Leo Burnett, including19 years as a Burnett MD. He has worked for Burnett in Australia, the United Kingdom, Indonesia (2 years) and Vietnam (10 years).

His move to Indonesia and then Vietnam was to put in place the disciplines that exist in a multinational advertising agency. David comments "too many people are talking solutions before the problem has been clearly identified ". He is passionate about the importance of BRAND. "Brand is the magic people buy into ... "BRAND is about long term and client commitment ".

Leo Burnett has been in Vietnam for 15 years and was Vietnam's first legally recognized Multi-national agency - through a BCC agreement.
