A brief look at their books
SELLING TO THE NEW CHINESE CONSUMER
The 12 characteristics are in brief: ritualistic observation, robotic depersonalization, hierarchical regimentation, anxious self-protection, trust facilitation, pragmatic elasticity, incremental progression, released repression, confidence projection, epic ambition, scaled mobilization and joyful celebration. These 12 behavioral characteristics are very essential, especially when he is talking about Joyful Celebration, he said that there are two Chinas, one is a rising China and the other a falling China. The falling China is scarred by blank faces, passive aggressive resistance, numbers on name tags, automated elevator greetings, horrifying provincial airports where “the customer” simply does not exist and unreformed SOEs kept on life support by expiring state organs. The former is alive, expressive and funny. China is rising and becoming stronger, Tom thought that China will be a great market not in Asia-pacific but around the world in the near future soon.
This is a great book for expats in China to know China and also know how to do business with Chinese people.
THE CHINESE DREAM
The Chinese Dream, is an exploration of how China’s growing middle class may provide the key to balancing the influence of the US and the western world.Helen who is grew up in China, has lived in US for 20 years, worked as an international technology consultant for many US companies doing business in the Chinese market and at myths about China’s rise as a superpower and international manufacturing power. She shows us the world of China’s new middle class, one which operates in a world where the boundaries between the public and private sector are less than clear.
All of this is framed by her perspective on how a mindset that “embraces the idea of unity in diversity” could help solve China and America’s energy, health and environmental problems.
