Arjun Malhotra serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Headstrong’s Board of Directors. Prior to Headstrong he was Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of TechSpan, which merged with Headstrong in October 2003.
A pioneer of the Indian IT industry, Arjun founded TechSpan in 1998 with funding from Goldman Sachs and Walden International. The merger of TechSpan with Headstrong has built an end-to-end services organization with seamless integration across businesses and cultures, resulting in Headstrong’s recognition as one of the fastest-growing IT-based Financial Services companies.
A winner of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs Award, Arujun has a long string of entrepreneurial successes. He co-founded the HCL group in 1975, taking it from a six-person “garage operation” to one of India’s largest Information Technology corporations. The first leading Indian entrepreneur to relocate to the USA, Mr. Malhotra took over HCL’s US operation in 1989 and grew it to nearly US$100 million annual revenues. In 1992 he ran the HCL-HP joint venture in India, and in 1996 he set up and ran the joint venture with Deluxe Corporation. He consolidated and grew HCL operations in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
He studied at The Doon School, Dehradun, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He graduated from IIT with B.Tech. (Hons.) in Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering and received the Dr. B.C. Roy Gold Medal. In 1985, he attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Paul runs the Headstrong Japan Gaishike Practice and is focused on both client delivery in Japan as well as assisting Gaishike organizations in Japan set up off-shore development and BPO related services. He is a Japanese speaking American who has been living and working the Asia Pacific region for 15 years, primarily with a focus on North Asia and the ANZ Region.
Prior to joining Headstrong he has held a number of senior management positions in both Big 5 consulting and tier 1 ERP software organizations where he has been responsible for client delivery across a variety of financial and non-financial industries as well as pan-Asia business unit establishment and management. Prior to his consulting career he spent a number of years with Chiyoda Kako Kensetsu as their first non-Japanese employee in their global business development and sales division in Tokyo.
Paul has completed numerous projects in the areas of program management office (PMO) establishment, development of customized enterprise level project management methodologies and tools and has had worked as a project manager and program director on multiple engagements - many of which have been in multi-cultural environments.
He has had extensive experience working with client executive management teams in governance and steering committee capacity. He has also been a member of the Asia Pacific management team in his own organization and facilitating country level budgets, resource plans, strategic direction and investment decisions with multiple stakeholders including country level Managing Directors and Regional level CXO's.
Shinichi Tonomura has been President of Headstrong Japan since September 2001, and is responsible for Headstrong's overall operations in Japan. He is a member of Headstrong’s global Executive Leadership Team and is also responsible for the firm’s global business consulting practice.
Tonomura began his career with Nippon Steel Corporation where he worked in accounting and production management. He eventually worked on business planning and M&A, focusing on establishing new business units in IT related areas. Tonomura left Nippon Steel to join Headstrong Japan (James Martin & Company Japan) in June 1999 and has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry.
Tonomura serves as professor for the graduate program at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology (Atago, Tokyo), where he teaches business strategy and operations management. Tonomura received an MBA from Stanford University, and a BA in economics from University of Tokyo.
Mr. Estevez, Senior Managing Consultant, provides broad range of business solutions for financial industry and advices to achieve clients' business strategy both for domestic and foreign investment banks and asset management firms in Japan. He had demonstrated his leadership in consulting various sizes of M&A, Process Re-engineering, IT consulting and outsourcing strategy at one of the major consulting firms for the last decade before he joined Headstrong in 2006.

Paul Beddie
Paul Beddie is a Vice President of Headstrong and runs the firm’s Financial Services Practice in Japan and Asia from Tokyo. He has been living and working in the Asia Pacific region since 1991 and is responsible for establishing Headstrong’s unique blend of business consulting, domain consulting and technology consulting services specifically for the financial service sector. Aside from his managerial duties, he also takes a hands on role with several clients in the region, ensuring the over all delivery, quality and coordination of Headstrong’s services.
Paul is highly experienced in working with client executive management teams. During his consulting career he has completed numerous business transformation projects, program & project management engagements as well as various strategic assessments in multiple areas at the CXO level. Prior to joining Headstrong in 2005 Paul held a number of senior delivery and management positions with Big 5 consultancies and tier 1 ERP software firms and began his career in Japan as the first non-Japanese employee in global business development and sales division of Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda Kako Kensetsu KK).
