He is principal of PHI Consulting, an award-winning career advisory group that has been serving mid-to senior-level executives in the Asia-Pacific and globally since 1999. I am wrapping up a 2-week visit to my home in Honolulu, Hawaii. The economy of our humble island “Aloha State”—so dependent on tourism—has taken a hit in the wake of the devastating and heartbreaking Tohoku earthquake and tsunami of March 11. My half-full All Nippon Airways flight from Tokyo to Honolulu, usually packed full of Japanese tourists, is just a portion of the evidence.

Onrec.com is the world’s leading information resource for HR and Recruiting professionals, and is the accompanying website to Online Recruitment Magazine

The other day over lunch, a consulting colleague and I were talking about the fact that an increasing number of employers and recruiters (yes, in China as well) are turning to LinkedIn to research and/or source talent. We agreed that having a LinkedIn profile is mandatory these days, regardless of whether or not you are in an active job search.

We also wondered, is the traditional paper resume (or pdf or Word) going to continue to be relevant?
